White Shaker Kitchen
& Jura Marble Duropal Worktops
The project brief in this period Bicester property was to merge memories and modernity! We were tasked with creating a kitchen which was functional whilst retaining a number of specific features. This house was previously lived in by the client’s grandparents so some elements are of sentimental importance.
We took out the existing kitchen and appliances, stripped back the walls and ceiling. The larder cupboard, original quarry stone floor, and some additional shelving was to be kept, so we took extra care with those.
The room was rewired so that we could relocated the appliances to make the most of the available worktop and storage space. We also replumbed and installed an outside tap. Once replastered, the room was ready for the new kitchen.
The White Shaker kitchen really brightens up the room, and our client chose a Jura Marble Duropal worktop to finish it off. This and the new wall tiles complement the original floor, which will be polished up now that we have finished the installation.
By installing wall mounted units above the hob and worktop space, we increased the available storage allowing us to repurpose two of the under counter cupboards for a fridge and a freezer. The washing machine was moved next to the sink, freeing up space for a drawer and cupboard unit in its place.
It was a privilege to take part in the sympathetic restoration of our client’s home.
